TAIEX Study Visit on Institutional Framework and Phytosanitary Measures to Manage Xylella fastidiosa in Olive Orchards

The aim of the study visit is to present in details the nature of this disease that rapidly ravage million olive trees in the Mediterranean basin, and to get to know the European approach of managing and preventing the spread of this harmful organism, and reducing its impact.
Discussions will also focus on roles and competencies of various institutions (state administration, scientific institutions and phytosanitary inspection) in terms of compensations, supervision and quarantine.
The visit would increase the awareness of the beneficiary and would provide for the development of an action plan that is well understood amongst farmers, research institutions and authorised bodies.
