The Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM Bari) intends to select a Project Coordinator in the framework of the project “NEMO HOUT - Strengthening the Fishing Value Chain in the Tunisian Coastal Communities of the Governorates of Nabeul, Sfax and Médenine” funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). Within the framework of the "BLEUE Tunisie. Support for the modernisation of fishing ports and vocational training in Tunisia's blue economy" programme led by AICS, the CIHEAM Bari has been identified for the implementation of the action related to the support of the fishing value chain, in line and continuity with the NEMO programmes led previously by CIHEAM Bari in the country (NEMO I and II, and NEMO Kantara). In line in line with the commitments and priorities of Government of Tunisia as identified in its Tunisia Vision 2035, the project NEMO HOUT seeks to support and strengthen the public services related to the fishing value chain while supporting financially and technically the private sector operators in six (06) ports of intervention (Sidi Daoud, El Kraten, Sfax, Skhira, Marhes and El Ketf) located across the Governorates of Nabeul, Sfax and Medenine. Moreover, the project addresses the Zarzis Professional Fishing Training Centre (CFPP) – Governorate of Medenine. This twofold strategy aims to make the Tunisian fishing value chain more sustainable, competitive, innovative and rentable reinforcing the public authorities and services’ capacities in managing the sector while providing the private sector with essential skills and financial supports to diversify their economic activities. The project will be implemented in strict collaboration with the Ministry for Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries.
