International cooperation, knowledge exchange and innovation can play a decisive role in shaping the future of sustainable beekeeping. This is the vision that guided the BestHONEY project, whose final transnational meeting brought together partners from Türkiye, Italy, France and Spain in Eskişehir, Türkiye, marking the conclusion of a collaborative journey under the Erasmus+ programme.
The meeting represented an opportunity to reflect on the results achieved throughout the project “Bringing Hygiene, Packaging and Production Requirements to EU Level for the Best Honey (BestHONEY)”, while reinforcing the network of institutions, experts and beekeeping stakeholders committed to promoting more sustainable, resilient and high-quality apiculture across Europe.
Throughout the project, partners worked together to address some of the most pressing challenges facing the beekeeping sector today. Activities focused on European and national regulations, traceability systems, food safety, biodiversity conservation, innovative hive management practices and strategies to protect bee health, fostering the exchange of expertise and good practices across different national contexts.

Beyond presenting the project’s achievements, the final meeting also provided a valuable platform to identify future opportunities for collaboration, confirming that the exchange of knowledge and good practices remains essential to support beekeepers in adapting to evolving environmental conditions, market demands and quality standards.
Through the Erasmus+ Programme, BestHONEY has demonstrated how international cooperation can transform knowledge into practical solutions, strengthen professional networks and contribute to the development of more sustainable and resilient beekeeping systems, where innovation and collaboration become key drivers for the future of the sector.
