Ongoing today at CIHEAM Bari the workshop "Towards a gender-aware research organisation: what you need to know (but never dared to ask)”, provided by the Gender Equality Academy

Supported by EU’s Horizon 2020 framework program, the Gender Equality Academy develops a high quality capacity building program about gender equality in the field of Research and Innovation (R&I) and Higher Education (HE). 

The training is guided by one of the leading gender experts in Europe, Dr Maxime Forest. Dr Forest’s recent work includes the roles of Scientific Coordinator on the FP7 EGERA Project, Advisor on gender equality issues for the French Ministry of Research and Higher Education and is an appointed member of the High Gender Equality Council which advises the French Prime Minister on gender issues and he is involved with three successful Horizon2020 research projects, all focused on gender and academia.

The Learning objectives are:

  • Familiarise with basic concepts
  • Sensitise about key problems at stake regarding gender in Research & Innovation (R&I)
  • Sensitise about unconscious bias
  • Raise awareness about the importance of institutional change for Gender Equality
  • Familiarise with the concept of a Gender Equality Plan (GEP) and its main stages of measures aimed at tackling those biases.
