Project Summary

Short description

The project supports the General Department of Fishery/Myanmar MLFRD to determine new development opportunities for the small scale fishery and aquaculture sectors. In view of the current developmental stage and context of small scale fishery and aquaculture in Myanmar, the Project aims to consolidate the Institute of Fishery Technology in Yangon (IFT), as technical hub for the Myanmar involved Institution, offering assistance and extension service to the private sector (fishermen and aquaculturists).

Main Results

Operative strategies for the implementation of the extension services on small scale fisheries and aquaculture. The Institute of Fishery Technology/Yangon will be rehabilitated for training and extension service actions. The IFT extension service will be organized for assisting the aquaculture sector, according to the example and guidelines offered by the Mediterranean Best Practices.
